(PLANNING) Assignment 55: Ancillary Sketches for Ancillary (Digipaks)

LAURIE ELLIS

The front cover will have an image of the artist looking at the text that says his name (grey) & his album name ("Busy"). This is to reflect to the audience that there is a connection between the figure in the album & the name & album name - that the figure is Olly Murs & this is his album.
The image of the artist is fairly large on the album to promote him & make him more recognisable. This is helped by the artist wearing his brand image: jacket & white shirt.

The back cover would have text which will list the songs included in the album. This would make easy & visible for the audience to read.

The inside front cover has 2 hands holding each other: one is the artist, the other is the artist's girlfriend that appears on the music video. This is supposed to reflect that the artist's music style &/or the album's theme.
The CD holder (inside back cover) has an image of the artist's face. This is so that the audience are forced to look at the artist's face when taking out the CD. The continuous look of the artist's face by the owner of the digipak would then cause the him/her to remember the artist's face.

DRAFT 2:

I Decided to go with a cork board theme with the digipak to represent a picture board where little doodles on scrap paper and pictures would go. This is so it matches the demographic of people that listen to the genre we are trying to target. This also allows us to use texture to make shapes and features within the Digipak itself. I wanted the writing to be white to resemble Happiness and purity and it will go with the theme overall. I also wanted the doodles to be done in black biro pen which can show that when they have free time they doodle and daydream. this can be seen through the doodles resembling stars, Lover hearts or moons.

FINAL DRAFT:

I Decided to change my Idea for the Ancillary for the final draft to have a mix of a different location (Riverside) and to have one of the shoots close to a brick wall for added effect. I wanted to keep the white text so it can be easily read. I also wanted to add a bar code and a record label for authenticity. I also wanted to get more shots of the artist so it would show that he is the main feature of all the ancillaries. And I thought about the positioning of the text where it should be better laid out and we need to use better tools to fit the text in the ancillaries.
